Behind the scenes in the Studio with the 100 day Project (Days 1-5)

If you have been following me on the Gram you know that I am creating 100 mini encaustic paintings. I thought I would share some behind the scenes images, videos, and thoughts on this project.

The concept behind this 100 day project is about experimenting with different techniques, using materials that I have in my studio - perhaps in different ways than I have in the past, and working intuitively and without any preconceived ideas or a final outcome. This is why I called the project 100 Mini Explorations.

I am using left over mat board, cut into 4x4 squares for the base of each mini painting. Every Friday I pop into Instagram and have you vote between 2 materials to use along with the encaustic wax.

So now that you know the story behind the project let’s get into the exciting part - the process videos and finished pieces.

Day 1

Day+1.jpg

This week is all about using up bits and pieces of collage papers. I love the texture from Day 1 and it was fun to experiment with the Stabilo woody crayon.

days 2 & 3

Some pieces come together quickly while others take a bit longer. The key is trusting in yourself and your abilities. They eventually always become a finished piece or it is a learning experience - never a failure.

days 4 & 5

Nature and vintage photos are a big inspiration to me and I love incorporating them into my art.

I hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes look - if you want even more sneak peeks be sure to sign up for my newsletter.

Bye for now - Stacy
