12-piece encaustic mixed media series on 4" x 4" panels. The series boasts a contemporary feel, "skewering" each of the twelve pieces using brushed steel 3/16" bars. Its raw, earthy and grungy look is supported by the use of tar, rusting effects and natural dyes in the crocheted fabric. Using ink to create deeper colors to the yarn, the crocheted patterns are hidden by many layers of encaustic wax, some cut and peeled away to reveal the entangled yarn.
