Encaustic technique using Wood Glue - 5 mini paintings
You guys had voted (over on the Gram) on wood glue for this week - so here we go. A quick note on wood glue before we get started. Please check that the wood glue you are using is water-based as does not contain any solvents that could catch on fire. Modern wood glues do not contain solvents and should be water-based. But older ones can contain solvents that make them incompatible with the use of a torch.
Day 27
Straying away from my normal nature inspired pieces for this one. I did not want to cover up those burnt circles as they had a worn and tattered look to them. Adding in the vibrant blue and some more circles really brought the whole piece together.
Days 28 & 29
A few notes on safety and encaustic equipment. First, I am very aware of where the flame on my torch is at all times and make sure that my space is clear of clutter. Second, I have a fire extinguisher that stays in my studio and is within reach just in case. I also make sure that the studio is well ventilated.
Day 30
And we are back to the nature landscapes for this little one.
Day 31
It’s all about the cracked texture with this one.
