Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner is an Austrian mountaineer and has been climbing mountains since she was just thirteen years old.

She became a nurse and continued climbing. In August 2011, she became the second woman to climb all fourteen eight-thousanders and the first woman to do so without the use of supplementary oxygen or high altitude porters. Gerlinde also has a passion for people and culture. In 2012, she won the prestigious National Geographic Explorer of the Year Award.
