Over on the Gram the votes came in for old book pages and book parts. So, I thought I would share some mixed media collaging techniques using vintage book pages, old hand written letters and encaustic paint.
It’s a real “hoot” (hehehe) to collage with these thin vintage book pages and handwritten letters.
Day 86
Days 87 & 88
Getting out the sewing machine for both of these little mini paintings. Sewing together the cloth book spine and the pages. The stitching adds a little something extra and helps hold the pieces together when I collage them down.
Working intuitively I never really know exactly how a layer is going to look. sometimes you need to test it out and then realize it’s not working. The beauty of this is everything can be scraped back as much or as little as desired.

Experimenting with some India Ink on these 2 bold abstract mixed media collages.
