rust artwork using rusty metal and encaustic paint

If you are new around here and want to see any of the previous days or want to see how this all started take a look at this post.

You guys voted (over on the Gram) for me to create with rust for this week.

In our travels around the neighborhood, to flea markets, and to salvage stores, I have acquired a small collection of rusty metal pieces.

Day 81

I also have a small collection of vintage photos that I have found in old books, letters, and at various flea markets. I have no idea who this little girl is in the picture, but I felt like she needed a new home on my artwork.

Days 82 & 83

The beauty of rust is that you never know exactly how it is going to transfer onto the surface. The incomplete patterns and shapes that the rust makes are what create an interesting and beautiful piece of art.

Are you wondering why I have rust water?

Well to use in art of course :) I also use it to dye fabric with.

I really like how the rust water sunk into all of those etched lines and the organic pattern it made.

Day 84

Day 85

Using both rust water and rusty metal pieces for this small encaustic painting and explaining how rust prints onto encaustic art.

I hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes look - if you want even more sneak peeks be sure to sign up for my newsletter.

When you sign up you will also get first dibs when the paintings are released in November!!

Bye for now - Stacy
